Conquest Reforged 1.20.1 Beta
The latest Conquest Reforged update is out and ready for 1.20.1 Fabric! If you thought that the last big update brought great performance, prepare yourself for even crazier improvements. To add to that, 1.20 brings powerful new tools along with more blocks for your building needs.
We're marking this initial release as a "Beta" in case unforeseen issues arise, but nevertheless the game plays smoothly. If nothing large comes up we'll mark this as a full release later on. In any case, as with any version upgrade, remember to back-up your worlds!
Performance Upgrades
Conquest Reforged over the years has become more and more demanding in terms of RAM usage, coming up to a daunting 6-8gb of RAM for Conquest Reforged alone. Thankfully, Minecraft has optimized its systems significantly, bringing this way down to 2gb for smooth FPS and gameplay. While loading times were also exhausting, they’re reduced to about 30 seconds. A big improvement from the 3-15 minute loading times that plagued us all.
We also made some smaller quality of life improvements. With Optifine now an unpleasant thing confined to the past, the mod and resource-pack are now unified, so there’s no need to go into the resource-pack screen and activate anything. Additionally, we’ve optimized our textures and brought the total download size of Conquest Reforged down to 136mb.
TLDR:
- 2gb RAM minimum, 4gb recommended
- Approximately 30 seconds to load the game now.
- One download – no separate resource-pack and mod.
- Reduced file size. Total down from 209mb -> 136mb.
Axiom
Exclusive to Fabric and 1.20, there’s a new creative building tool on the block, and this one overshadows Worldedit. Axiom introduces an incredibly user-friendly way of editing and creating your builds in real time with its custom UI (no more typing in long commands!).
Jayemceekay (one of the developers of Conquest Reforged) is also working on add-ons for Axiom to make building even easier. Do check out his twitter for a sneak peak!

Conquest Reforged Community Sourced Survival Compatibility
As you all know we removed survival compatibility from Conquest Reforged in 1.15.2 due to the significant changes being done on Mojang’s end (especially on the terrain generator). With no custom world gen, our plans for a new recipe system were put on hold until a much later and more stable versions of Minecraft are out there.
Thankfully, a number of community members stepped up to the plate to contribute and we can finally share their efforts with you. ILikeToGetRekt spent hours working on recipes for twelve and a half thousand blocks amounting to over 25,500 individual recipe files which were vigorously tested by his Twitch community. InstantNootles also put the work in by building 33 custom trees in order to provide more aesthetic consistency between TerraForged and CR. We are blessed to have such a wonderful community that helps fill in the gaps when the dev team is bogged down with work or focusing on other parts of the mod. This would not have existed without them, so go and show them some love when you find the time.
How to prepare Minecraft for CR survival:
- Custom Launcher
- If you are using the CR Launcher the modpack will be updated for you automatically. If you are using the Curse Launcher or a third party one, you should update it using the latest CR modpack on CurseForge.
- When making a new world select the TerraForged world type. This will apply all of the survival compatibility datapacks automatically.
- If you do not wish to use TerraForged or if you have an existing world you will need to install the datapacks manually. This can be done by downloading the datapacks on Curse and dropping them into the ‘datapacks’ folder inside your world folder.
- Manual Installation
- If you are using TerraForged, put the datapacks you wish to use into config/terraforged/datapacks. When you make a new world using the TerraForged world type they will be added to your world automatically.
- If you do not wish to use TerraForged or if you have an existing world you will need to install the datapacks manually. This can be done by downloading the datapacks on Curse and dropping them into the ‘datapacks’ folder inside your world folder.
Where to find the survival compatibility datapacks:

- TerraForged Tree Overhaul (optional)

- Conquest Structure Overhaul (optional)
