Conquest Reforged 1.20.1 Beta
The latest Conquest Reforged update is out and ready for 1.20.1 Fabric! If you thought that the last big update brought great performance, prepare yourself for even crazier improvements. To add to that, 1.20 brings powerful new tools along with more blocks for your building needs.
We're marking this initial release as a "Beta" in case unforeseen issues arise, but nevertheless the game plays smoothly. If nothing large comes up we'll mark this as a full release later on. In any case, as with any version upgrade, remember to back-up your worlds!
Performance Upgrades
Conquest Reforged over the years has become more and more demanding in terms of RAM usage, coming up to a daunting 6-8gb of RAM for Conquest Reforged alone. Thankfully, Minecraft has optimized its systems significantly, bringing this way down to 2gb for smooth FPS and gameplay. While loading times were also exhausting, they’re reduced to about 30 seconds. A big improvement from the 3-15 minute loading times that plagued us all.
We also made some smaller quality of life improvements. With Optifine now an unpleasant thing confined to the past, the mod and resource-pack are now unified, so there’s no need to go into the resource-pack screen and activate anything. Additionally, we’ve optimized our textures and brought the total download size of Conquest Reforged down to 136mb.
TLDR:
- 2gb RAM minimum, 4gb recommended
- Approximately 30 seconds to load the game now.
- One download – no separate resource-pack and mod.
- Reduced file size. Total down from 209mb -> 136mb.
Axiom
Exclusive to Fabric and 1.20, there’s a new creative building tool on the block, and this one overshadows Worldedit. Axiom introduces an incredibly user-friendly way of editing and creating your builds in real time with its custom UI (no more typing in long commands!).
Jayemceekay (one of the developers of Conquest Reforged) is also working on add-ons for Axiom to make building even easier. Do check out his twitter for a sneak peak!

A Milestone Reached: Ardacraft's Bree Completed
Our friends at ArdaCraft, the preeminent Conquest Reforged building team, have recently completed their latest project, the revamp and recreation of the town Bree from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. The completion of the project is a great feat for the ArdaCraft team, and the end result is a testament to their relentless research, planning, and will to chase the cutting-edge of modded building.
Bree is a town in Middle-earth near the Shire, inhabited by men who mingled with hobbits, dwarves, and elves. It was a key location in the early part of the Lord of the Rings saga, serving as a stopping point for Frodo Baggins and his companions on their quest to destroy the One Ring.
The town itself boasts a large number of varied and detailed buildings, each with their own purpose and place within the village. You'll find many great examples of medieval half-timber framed (aka Tudor) buildings that take advantage of the very latest models. Professions as varied as merchant, mason, carpenter and cartwright are represented, and aspects of settlements which many builds often ignore or forget - such as lavoirs (public place for washing clothes), breweries, graveyards and even middens - are included. The lore centerpiece of the village, the Prancing Pony, is built with painstaking accuracy to the books' lore.
Outside of the town lie breathtaking pastoral landscapes and farms, replete with only the best foliage from the Essential Trees pack. With the addition of the Create mod they've pushed their builds even further with an amazing windmill.
